Upcycled Challenge: Toilet Paper Roll to gift package #freefromtrash

Have you ever considered NOT using toilet paper?  I mean, who has, right?  Well, there are people out there that use fabric toilet "paper."  Yeah that's right, they wash and reuse their toilet "paper."  In green circles, this is called Family Cloth and I considered it VERY briefly because I use cloth diapers and I use cloth menstrual pads so the next logical step would be to green up the adults' toilet routine.  However, my husband was not on board with that since he only uses TP for Number2 and that is GROSS to store poopy cloth (um hello, have we met?  We use cloth diapers and have since they were brought home from the hospital - same difference!!)  So anyways there are options to toilet paper but since Family Cloth hasn't quite caught on yet, well, we seem to have a never-ending supply of toilet paper roll tubes for crafting!!

I have seen these little gift containers made from TP roll tubes all over the internet and they could NOT be simpler.  Push in ends, decorate and fill.  I have no problem with germs (some people are weirded out by stuff coming from the bathroom) because I just don't think the roll itself is exposed to that many germs.

I decorated this little one with ribbon and a newspaper flower.

This post is part of the Upcycled Crafting Challenge (#freefromtrash) hosted by Calley, The Eco Chic, and is part of a one month challenge to create from trash.  This challenge will hopefully open your eyes to the number of items that we still end up trashing every day that could be used by ourselves or our kids to create fun and useful items.  To find out more about the challenge and to see other projects click on over to Calley’s announcement post.
