Food Trucks!!

It's likely that if you live in or near a suburban area, you have seen or eaten at a food truck.  Chinese or mexican food are the standard fare.  But you've probably also heard about the innovative gourmet food trucks like Clover in Boston who use local and seasonal ingredients to create such delights as zucchini fritters and strawberry whoopie pies.  I am starting a new feature on my blog chronicling our food truck experiences here in Southern California.

Recently we attended the SoCo Farmer's Market Farm to Food Truck Challenge, where local food trucks such as Seabirds Truck, Barcelona OntheGo, Taco Maria, Chomp Chomp Nation, Tamarindo Truck, and Dos Chinos (Food) used farmer's market ingredients to create gourmet dishes is just 1 hour.  It was really neat and we enjoyed lobster rolls from the Lobsta Truck.  The winning dish was Seabirds Truck's Artichoke & cashew cream cheese stuffed squash blossom, over a salad of baby mixed greens, summer cilantro, California cherries, grilled brussel sprouts, pita croutons, & a sage honey and OJ vinaigrette. Sounds amazing!  Luckily for us, these food trucks can be found every Saturday at the SoCo Farmer's Market in Costa Mesa CA.
